Pour and Sip

Background

Pour & Sip was developed by the team behind Drinks by the Dram and Master of Malt. With a huge variety of impressive whiskies being tried and shared (by the team) each month, they set out to take as many people as possible on this flavour adventure with them.

Each month, they curate a set of five x 30ml tasters that they think you’ll love and ship them directly to your door. Each and every single dram is handpicked, so you can rest assured that each is a small measure of something wonderful.

They also hold live tastings twice a month which is a big part of their vision for the brand, whereby you are invited to join and share the drams.

First Impressions

First impressions are lasting impressions; in the case of the Pour & Sip website, the lasting impression is very positive. The website is well put together with a nice clean layout. It’s easy to navigate and find the product options. They’ve got it well covered: monthly to bi-monthly and even a gift option, there is plenty of flexibility.

I selected the monthly box and took advantage of the discount code I had which got me my box for 33% less. This is fantastic value, especially for the first box as this comes with all sorts of goodies. Whilst you have an active subscription, you also have access to the members store, where you can buy bottles from the tasting set(s) with a whopping 20% off and free delivery (that’s better than Master of Malt prices). My only remark is that there was no stand out shipping date in the confirmation email, but this can be worked out by visiting their FAQ page.

What’s in the box?

After failing to read the email properly, I was pleasantly surprised when I got a dispatch email to say the box was on its way. Delivered with DPD, tracking was on point and the box was delivered with care. As soon as it arrived, I was keen to dig in and explore the contents!

Your first box is not only well packaged and designed, but also comprised of tasting cards, the five drams and two Glencairn glasses; which in my opinion is a very nice touch. These boxes would definitely make for a great gift for someone who is getting into their whisky.

Impressive packaging aside, the drams are varied and interesting, granted this depends on which month you join, but I’m confident (given their stock and range of whiskies) that every month will include something varied and special.

Another great benefit to being a member of the Pour & Sip club is that you can take part with their live tastings. I wasn’t able to dram along for the first one, but I was watching live whilst feeding my daughter. The tasting saw the team joined by Kat Presley and was very informative and inclusive whilst remaining informal.

I think the Pour & Sip boxes are a great offering, aimed mainly at the newcomer to whisky. The tasting notes and guided tastings make it good value for money and I would definitely recommend it for someone looking to broaden their whisky horizons or as a gift for a whisky enthusiast.
